¿Se disculparía por los numerosos casos de pederastia en México? ¿Acaso condenaría a "la legión" y su fundador drogadicto-violador-pederasta Maciel? No, ¿verdad? Entonces, estas "disculpas" suenan tan huecas como los "nuevos" pecados que el imaginario del Vaticano ha creado para consumo popular. Ah, ¿y acaso diría algo de los sacerdotes que trafican droga o lavan el dinero producto del narco? Tampoco, claro.

Pope lands in the U.S., apologizes for priest abuse

Pope Benedict has landed in the U.S. His plane touched down outside of Washington, D.C., just after 4 p.m. EDT Tuesday, where he was greeted by U.S. President George Bush and his wife Laura Bush.

En route to the U.S. for his first American visit since being selected to lead the Catholic church, Benedict said he was "deeply ashamed" of the sexual abuse scandals that have rocked the Roman Catholic church in recent years.

"It is a great suffering for the church in the United States and for the church in general and for me personally that this could happen," Benedict said. "It is difficult for me to understand how it was possible that priests betray in this way their mission ... to these children."
